Trendy underground hip hop club in industrial area in Tacoma

Thrilling atmosphere; gets often very heated and aggressive; therefore security measures have been improved recently (but only with moderate success)

Only standard synthohol drinks are offered at the bars; connections, charm, or hard nuyen are needed to get the barkeepers to bring the better stuff from the store rooms

Old and ramshackle warehouse with large parking area, enclosed by a secured wire-fence; burning dumpsters are lighting up the scenery

The warehouse is only maintained as much as necessary to ensure that the building will not collapse; the image of a rundown storehouse is created on purpose with partly broken-through walls, barrier tape around mountains of rubble, and patched-up, broken steel beams

There are a couple of floors and bar areas arranged on different levels of the warehouse, some of them only separated by partly broken-through walls

The entrance area is equipped with wardrobes and secured compartments for weapons

The first bar area is dominated by a long, u-shaped bar; there are also some bar tables

The main floor has a large dancefloor with big anachronistic music boxes; at the surrounding walls of the room there are bar tables and benches; there is a metal staircase which leads up to the DJ area which is situated 8 m above the dancefloor and behind a glass panel; on the wall opposite to the DJ in the main room is a higher situated platform on top of a mountain of rubble which can be used as a stage for live acts or as a dancefloor

Separated from the main room by a partly broken-through wall is another smaller bar area which offers seating accommodations (bar chairs at the bar, some old and battered leather couches, and tables with chairs)

A passageway from the main room leads to another small bar area which serves only champagne and fancy cocktails to the guest at the high bar tables with bar chairs; here relaxed downtempo music is played

The passageway also leads to the rest rooms, the staff rooms, and the store rooms

From the main room two additional staircases on both sides of the room lead up to two higher areas: One is situated above the entrance area and the first bar room and has another bar with a wide selection of beer and a small dancefloor; the other is situated above the rooms which can be reached via the passageway. In this large, acoustically shielded area there is a second main dancefloor with another DJ, a bar, bar tables, and some seating areas

The clientele mostly consists of underground clubbers as well as some mainstreamers, who seek the thrill; here the diehard oldschool hip hop scene of Seattle has their main party venue; a lot of local gangers as well as mobsters and other criminal elements hang out her

Owner: Josh Wright, in his early 40s, local known hip hop artist and producer with very good street connections; rumours have occurred lately that he invested a lot of money in a fraud business and has gotten himself into financial difficulties; rumour has it that he is thinking about selling the club in order to be able to pay back the syndicates which lent him money

Monday to Wednesday old school hip hop is played; Thursday alternative and abstract hip hop sessions; Friday old school and even mainstream hip hop parties (sometimes live acts); Saturdays strictly old school hip hop parties (sometimes live acts); Sunday hip hop jam sessions or rap battles; only Fridays and Saturdays all floors are open

Beatbox has hired an additional number of security guards due to a number of shootings and another security incidents in the recent past, weapons are not permitted anymore (MAD-scanner have been installed); but the security measures only have moderate success and the local criminals still use the parking area for drug dealing and other business bargains

Angesagter Underground Hip Hop-Club in Industriegebiet in Tacoma

Mitreißende, aufgekratzte Atmosphäre, die von Zeit zu Zeit recht aufgeheizt und aggressiv werden kann; daher wurden die Sicherheitsmaßnahmen kürzlich verbessert (allerdings nur mit mäßigem Erfolg)

Normalerweise wird nur Standard-Synthohol ausgeschenkt, man braucht entweder Kontakte, Charme oder harte Nuyen um die Barkeeper zu überzeugen, den richtigen Alkohol aus den Lagerräumen zu holen

Alte, marode Lagerhalle mit großem, umzäumten Parkplatzareal erhellt durch brennende Mülltonnen

Lagerhalle nur insoweit instand gesetzt, dass Stabilität der Halle gewährleistet ist, ansonsten wird mit dem Image halb durchbrochener Wände, kleineren mit Absperrband

gesicherten Schuttbergen, notdürftig ausgebesserter, eingeknickter Stahlträger etc. gespielt

Mehrere ineinander übergehende Floors und Barbereiche

Eingangsbereich (Garderobe und gesicherte Waffeneinlagerungsboxen)

Erster Barbereich (lange U-förmige Theke, darum mehrere Stehtische)

Main Floor (weiträumige Tanzfläche mit großen Boxen, an den Seitenwänden Stehtische und Bänke als Sitzbereiche, Stahltreppenaufgang zum DJ-Bereich, dieser befindet sich in ca. 8m Höhe hinter einer Glasscheibe, erhöhte Plattform auf einem Schuttberg an Wandseite gegenüber dem DJ, entweder als Tanzbereich nutzbar oder für Auftritte von Live-Acts)

Vom Mainfloor geht durch eine halbdurchbrochene Wand ein weiterer kleiner Barbereich ab (Bar mit Barstühlen, mehrere abgewetzte alte Ledercouches und Tische mit Stühlen)

Ebenfalls vom Mainfloor geht ein Gang ab, der zu einer kleinen Sektbar (mit chilliger Musik und hohen Bartischen und -stühlen) sowie den Toiletten und den Personal- und Lagerräumen führt

Außerdem führen zwei breite Stahltreppen auf beiden Seiten vom Mainfloor auf zwei obere Ebenen

Einer erstreckt sich über dem Eingangs- und dem ersten Barbereich und hier findet sich eine weitere Bierbar und kleinerer Dancefloor

Der andere, größere liegt über den über den Gang erreichbaren Räumen und ist akustisch vom Rest des Clubs abgetrennt. Hier befindet sich ein zweiter größerer Dancefloor mit weiterem DJ, Barbereich, Stehtische und einige Sitzecke

Publikum: eher Underground-Publikum sowie Mainstreamer, sie sich den besonderen Thrill geben wollen, eingefleischte Oldschool Hip Hop-Szene Seattles, auch kriminelle Elemente (Mob, Gangs, Shadowbiz), oft aggressive, aufgekratzte Stimmung

Besitzer: Josh Wright, Anfang 40, lokal bekannter Hip Hop Artist and Produzent mit sehr guten Straßenkontakten; seit kurzem kursieren Gerüchte, dass er sehr viel Geld in ein Geschäft investiert hatte, das sich als Betrug herausstellte und sich dadurch in Zahlungsschwierigkeiten gebracht hat; außerdem gehen Gerüchte herum, dass er darüber nachdenke den Club zu verkaufen, um den Syndikaten Geld zurück zu zahlen, das er sich von diesen leihen musste

Montags bis Mittwochs wird Oldschool gespielt; Donnerstags Alternative Hip Hop und Abstract Hip Hop Sessions; Freitags Oldschool Parties mit einem gewissen Mainstream-Hip Hop-Anteil (manchmal Live Acts); Samstags eingefleischte Oldschool-Party (manchmal Live Acts); Sonntags Hip Hop Jam Sessions oder Rap Battles; nur Freitags und Samstags sind alle Räume geöffnet

Viele Türsteher und clubeigenes Sicherheitspersonal innerhalb des Clubs und zum Schutz der Fahrzeuge auf Parkplatz und zum Verhindern größerer bewaffneter Auseinandersetzungen außerhalb des Clubs, MAD-Scanner, Waffen müssen abgegeben werden; diverse größere Zusammenstöße im Club und auf dem Gelände in der jüngeren Vergangenheit führten zu den erhöhten Sicherheitsmaßnahmen, allerdings sind diese nur von mäßigem Erfolg, denn die lokalen Kriminellen nutzen weiterhin den Parkplatz für Drogendeals und zum Abwickeln anderer Geschäfte
